I've been using this book on the side while taking a Maya Dynamics class in school. It has helped a lot and provided extra material that my instructor can't completely cover in the 11 week class.

If you're a real pro and can skip the book and go right to the DVD, there are some valuable tips. However, blastcode and other plugins/filters have made all this (mostly erroneous) step by step irrelevant-- you can get explosions, fires, floods, etc.

It's absolutely shocking that this book has been published with so many errors in it. Yes the projects and theories behind them seem to be very useful, but it's extremely hard to understand the lessons when the majority of my time is spent trying to decrypt the instructions.
